Responsibility is one of the 12 Virtues that form the core of Ingenium. It is one of the virtues that belongs to the Duty Quadrant. It is the fourth Virtue taught because after gaining a sense of autonomy and control, it is important to take ownership of your choices, your thoughts, and your actions. It is defined as "the state or fact of being accountable for one's duties and actions." Responsibility is taught using the 6th Key as a means of dealing with avoidance, or keeping away from or withdrawing from something undesirable, with regards to responsibility and duty. The sixth Key is intended to help take ownership of our lives and our actions, which in turn reinforces a feeling of adequacy - one has control over their path to self-mastery.

The Key to Responsibility is called "Vanquish the Saboteur." It is about showing each individual how they often get in their own way and inhibit themselves from achieving success. We often sabotage our own efforts through making excuses to avoid rejection or failure, or we avert blame for our actions onto something external, which alleviates the need to take ownership of our decisions (and ultimately our lives). By breaking out of this cycle of negative thinking, we can realize that we have more control over our lives than we thought.

DutyEdit

Being a part of the Duty Quadrant, this virtue is also about not neglecting our own duties in life. By handling our responsibilities, we can avoid a mountain of problems that stem from avoiding them.

LitanyEdit

The Litany affirmation for Responsibility:

I assume full responsibility for my thoughts, actions, and decisions. I am aware of my contributions to my success and the things I may do to inhibit myself from achieving my goals. I make no excuses. I am responsible for my own destiny and my own path. My thoughts and my actions are aligned with my destiny.

The abbreviated Litany is "I am responsible for my thoughts, my actions, and my destiny."
